Esteban Ismael is a writer living on the border in a bordertown. He teaches creative writing workshops with the San Diego Community College District and moonlights as an experimental baker. He received the 2016 First Prize in Poetry from Dogwood and has been selected as a finalist in the 2015 Knightville Poetry Contest (The New Guard) and the 2014 Joy Harjo Poetry Award (Cutthroat Journal). His poems are forthcoming or have recently  appeared in Spillway, Dogwood, The New Guard, The Massachusetts Review, Codex Journal, Ruminate Magazine,  H_NGM_N, RHINO, Crab Orchard Review, and Verse Wisconsin Online, among others.
